Lameness

Lameness is one of the most common problems seen in cattle and horses.  Abscesses, laminitis, arthritis and tendon and ligament strains will slow down or completely inhibit your animals performance whether it’s in the arena or the pasture.  OMVS can take digital X-rays at your farm to help diagnose lameness.

Below is a heifer who had a penetrating wound through her coronary band into her coffin joint causing a septic arthritis.  She was non-weight-bearing when we saw her.  We were able to clean and fuse the joint surgically by removing the cartilage where the 2 bones meet.  This picture was taken 2 months later.  She is totally sound!
